Why
Longhorn Beef?
With most other types of cattle, the butcher has to ‘try’ and trim the fat
off.
Longhorn cattle are "naturally lean" (no fat to cut
off).
Our LeanAndTender™
Longhorn natural grass fed Beef is lean and
healthful,
lower in fat and cholesterol than skinless chicken!
It's also tender and great tasting. |

In the "Old West" around 1865,
cowboys were off fighting the Civil War. The American Longhorns had to
fend for themselves on the open range and "survival of the fittest" was
nature's way. They became naturally hardy and lean. They are the same
today, and our grass fed beef is tender and delicious.
Most other cattle breeds are
genetically engineered to be fat. Then they are sold on the hoof by
the pound, so it pays to fatten them up, especially right before the sale.
This is done by force feeding grain for about 90 days in a feedlot.
Then the butcher tries to create lean meat by trimming off the fat.
Longhorn cattle are lean by their nature, and we do not send them to a
feedlot or force feed them grain.
Our
LeanAndTender™ Longhorn brand beef is naturally raised. The cattle are
grass fed and grass finished.

Also, because our beef comes from grass
fed cattle that are not force fed grain,
it has
important health
benefits for you, since it is significantly richer in these "good fats":
-
Omega 3
-- Essential for growth and development. It helps lower blood pressure
and lowers the risk of mental disorder.
-
CLA
(conjugated linoleic acid) -- Helps convert body fat to lean muscle, and
fights cancer.
-
Beta-carotene
-- Lowers the risk of cancer and cardiovascular (heart) disease.

You will
notice a significant difference when you cook
LeanAndTender™ Longhorn Beef, especially noticeable when preparing our
"98% Lean" ground beef. There is no grease run-off, grill flare-up, or
shrinkage, that you normally get from commercial beef -- and the taste is
that of great beef instead of greasy fat.
